When viewing them at 25% size, or about 14"x 9" on my monitor they all looked pretty good although the higher ISO versions seemed a bit grainier and the images seemed less bright as the ISO increased. New firmware for Canon EOS-5D Mark IV and EOS-6D Mark II cameras announced.
At 12800 lots of noise was evident and obvious, and 25,600 wasn't so hot but might be usable depending on the subject and the context.
At 6400 it was getting pretty noisy, but if not looking at it at 100% it was still pretty good. With regard to the four identical images with ISO at 3200, 6400, 12,800, and 25,600, I found the 3200 to be terrific.

a Lr update will have a matching ACR update for Photoshop/etc) is opaque to me.įingers crossed the next Lr update won't be far away.Mind you that LR4 and DPP do not support 6D RAW file yet. But how Adobe schedule their releases across the CC environment (e.g.

There are continual changes/tweaks/improvements/experiments being made to the product and used by the testing community, and every now and then a branch will be made to the source, put through the release cycle, and eventually come out the other end as a public version. This is one of the ways software development is done. Of course it will have to go through the normal QA and release cycle, and there are possibly some other cameras that will make it into the same release candidate, along with whatever other bug fixes, lens profiles, and new features have been included. Thus we can hope that a new public version will be released soon (it's only been a week since the camera's release so far, which would be blindingly-fast). To put it into numbers, the 80D has 10 stops of DR where the 6D Mark II has around 9 stops when shot at 100 ISO.
There are two zip files to access the sample RAW files, Zip 1 Zip 2.

I took this as a good sign that once more cameras were available to the Adobe team (which they should be by now) they'd be able to complete their QA testing, tweak whatever is required in the processing engine, and generate new dual-illuminant DNG profiles for it. The reports are that at 100 ISO the dynamic range of the cropped sensor 80D is better than the full frame sensor of the 6D Mark II at the base ISO. Of course, the beta-tester agreement you have to enter into with Adobe once you're invited to be part of the program does probably say you can't talk about it publicly. Simple answer: it seems obvious he was using a pre-release version of Lightroom. I don't think anyone has found an answer to the original question: how did Polin get dng files from Mark IV RAW files? Everyone is saying that Adobe's converter doesn't work yet and DPP only converts to TIFF or jpeg. I'm very much against being forced into the subscritpion software model. I don't believe the CR2 files from the IV would be all that different to those from the III (leaving out dual pixel raw files for the moment, which I'll probably never use), and almost the only thing stopping CS6 from reading them is the name of the camera in the EXIF. (There are probably dozens of things it does that I haven't even discovered yet!) I've sent many thousand of dollars Adobe's way over the last decade and a half, and I believe I should have the option of continuing to use the software I've paid for, rather than be forced into a subscription service where the monthly charge could go up any time. Yeah you have to have a subscription but it basically equals what you'd pay every 2 years anyway with updates like the old days. It is like CS was to Version 3 (my first version back in the 80s). CC 2015.5 is so far advance from CS6 it hurts to even think of going back. I will very reluctantly move to Photoshop CC.ĭo the upgrade! It is beyond worth it.
